When dusk approaches, the roadside vending machines inside and outside the cities start to light up. The environments in which vending machines are placed is unique to Japan.
Whether placed in the wilderness or amongst the hustle bustle of down town areas, nothing but a lonely light radiates from the vending machine. A vending machine’s sales is it’s one measure, if sales fall, the machine is removed forever. In a way, this closely depicts the life of a human being. No matter where we stand , without the approval of others, we fail to exist.
Cold and uninviting the vending machine’s florescent light permeates the sparse coldness of the image. Oddly, the vending machine does not seem so out of place on such a bleak landscape.
